NOTE: The WAN Settings form is not applicable to MiVoice Business for Industry Standard Servers (ISS).
NOTE: The MXe III-L controller does not support WAN functionality.
The WAN Settings form is used to enable the WAN interface and provide internet connectivity settings for Static IP, DHCP, or PPPoE.
The form also provides WAN status information when a link to the internet is established.
Use this form when performing the following tasks:
Parameter |
Description |
Default Value |
WAN Settings |
||
WAN Access |
Select "Disabled" to disable the WAN Ethernet interface. |
Enabled |
WAN IP Address Method |
Select the method of obtaining an IP address. Options include DHCP, PPPoE, Static, and APC. If APC is selected, a private VLAN is established between the 3300 MIPS processor and the APC card to bridge the WAN port to the APC. The APC (Mitel Standard Linux) will function as the Internet Gateway to the WAN. All WAN traffic is directed from the MIPS card over the private VLAN to the APC card. Program the Internet connectivity settings (static IP, PPPoE, or DHCP client) through the Mitel Standard Linux administration interface. See Application Processor Card for configuration instructions. For additional configuration details, see the Mitel Standard Linux (MSL) Installation and Maintenance guide available at Document Center. NOTE: If the WAN interface is programmed as a DHCP client, it may be necessary to renew the DHCP lease to obtain an IP address. To do this, disable the WAN Access and then enable it. |
DHCP |
Current IP Address NOTE: This section appears in the main form only. |
||
IP Address |
System-generated, protected field. Displays the IP address currently configured on the WAN Ethernet interface. NOTE: If the IP address is not displayed, the WAN interface has not successfully connected to the network. |
|
Subnet Mask |
System-generated, protected field. Displays the Network/subnet mask currently configured on the WAN Ethernet interface. |
|
External Gateway |
System-generated, protected field. Displays the default Gateway IP Address currently configured on the WAN Ethernet interface. |
|
MAC Address |
System-generated, protected field. Displays the MAC Address of the WAN Ethernet interface. |
|
Static IP Address NOTE: This section appears in the change form only. |
||
IP Address |
Enter the IP Address to use on the WAN Ethernet interface. The WAN IP Address cannot conflict with the DHCP Static IP Address and Range IP Address, and it must be on a different subnet than the System IP Address. |

Subnet Mask |
Enter the Network/subnet mask to use on this interface. |
Blank |
External Gateway |
Enter the IP address of external default gateway. |
Blank |
DHCP Client |
||
Client Name |
Enter the DHCP client name specified by your Internet Service Provider (ISP). The name can contain up to 20 characters, and it cannot contain quotes or spaces. |

Authenticate By |
Select "Ethernet Address" to send the Client ID as an ethernet address. |
Client ID (which sends the Client ID as an ASCII string) |
Client ID/Ethernet Address |
Depending on the selected DHCP authentication method, enter either the Client ID or the Ethernet (MAC) address specified by your ISP. For a Client ID, the value is treated as ASCII string (1-64 characters without quotes); if blank, the WAN Ethernet (MAC) address is used. For an Ethernet address, the value is an address (11-17 characters) in hexadecimal notation separated by colons or spaces; if blank, the hardware assigned Ethernet (MAC) address is used. |
